The system of correspondence education at the Samara state university for the period with 1999 for 2003 developed dynamically and is characterized by stable positive tendencies, development of new forms and directions of training. In year 1999 on correspondence branch 2751people were trained, in 2003 - 4708 people . Through system of correspondence education the university prepares experts on following educational programs of 12 specialities: 020300 Sociology, 020400 Psychology, 020600 Cultural science, 020700 History, 021100 Jurisprudence, 021400 Journalism, 021700 Philology, 031300 Social pedagogics, 061000 the State and municipal management, 061100 Management of the organization, 350500 Social work, 350800 Documentary Study and documentary support of management. And preparation of journalists and documentary specialists has begun for the first time.
Still most dynamically the correspondence form of education develops at faculty of economy and management, legal and sociological faculties. Thus, for example, the contingent of extra-mural students at faculty of law has grown in recent years from 1073 people to 1380. The accelerated preparation of experts takes root actively into traditional system of correspondence education on the basis of secondary special education (historians, social workers, lawyers, managers) and a bachelor degree (lawyers) whom the Samara area and districts of the Volga region require urgently. For the organization and developments of this technology of training the new working curricula, new educational and working programs, new forms of individual work with students, plans of their independent work are developed and introduced. 1330 persons are in the system of accelerated educationor for January, 1st, 2004.
Development of university in new economic conditions, growth of independence of high school in the solution of tactical and strategic problems of higher education has led to such a situation that 2600 persons study at the correspondence form of training on conditions of the full indemnification of expenses for training that makes 55,2 % from the contingent of extra-mural students.
Creation of Tolyatti branch, opening of SSU representations in cities of Syzran and Pokhvistnevo has led to the further development of system of correspondence education. Formation of these university structures in cities of the Samara area under the initiative of local municipalities has allowed not only to satisfy requirements of labour market for these cities and regions adjoining to them, not only to realize aspiration of young men to receive modern university education in native city, but also to occupy certain educational space, to oppose growing influence of non-state educational institutions with stability and reliability of the state system of the higher vocational training.
The organization of educational process under the correspondence form of training is always in the center of attention of administration and the Academic council of university. Council on evening and correspondence course at whose sessions concrete problems of educational and educational work are discussed with correspondence students was created and is functioning. In particular, the task of introduction of Samara state university into system of correspondence education wiyh technologies and techniques of remote training already in the near future.
The system of internally-correspondence (part-time) education at the Samara state university is traditionally connected with realization of the basic educational programs for natural-science specialities: 010200 Applied mathematics and computer science, 010400 Physics, 010500 Mechanics, 011000 Chemistry, 011600 Biology. In 2001 at part-time branch SSU realization of educational program on a speciality 020400 Psychology on a paid basis began.
In 1999 at part-time branch 485 person were trained , in 2003 - 559 persons. Development of the internally-correspondence form of training at university is connected with introduction of new specializations, introduction of new educational technologies, expansion of paid educational services.
